The flavor of this yukari is insane. I use it for a cocktail topper and it’s a true winner. It is salty but earthy and super flavorful. The purple color bleeds into liquid too. Great product.
I buy this from a Japanese store near my house, and this is the best brand ever. I’ve tried the one that comes in a little jar, but that one was way too salty. This brand is literally perfect. I was introduced to it by my sister when she brought it back from her trip to Japan, and I have been buying it ever since! I love to eat it with rice and salmon. Best thing ever! I love to cook and I am Bengali. This was a flavor that I was not familiar with because it was so unique. It’s hard to describe the flavor but I guess it’s sour, salty, and fragrant? Lol if you love Asian food, you’ll love this. You just have to try it for yourself. Bon appetit! :)
I had this in rice balls once while traveling and set out on a multi year quest to find this ingredient! Red shiso leaves are simply chef’s kiss delicious on plain white rice and I use it generously.
This is the best Japanese flake and so taste yummy.
Yukari has been my good friend since I was little. I eat much more rice with Yukari - Usually I eat 2 men's size large rice bowls of rice, but with Yukari, Yukari alone on just-cooked hot rice, I eat 3, 4, 5 . ... men's large rice bowls. It's not weird, actually, it's normal in Japan. My family, friends, and friends of friends' eat rice with nothing else but Yukari :) It's very pricey but I have been and will continue buying Yukari.
Good product, mixen in warm sushi rice and make a rice ball take a piece of dry see seed to hold in the hand and just eat, cold taste better and bit soy sauce make everything nicely.

This is just as I remember it when I used to buy it when living in Japan. I use in making Umeboshi and as a rice topper. The color is vibrant.
