I no longer buy regular spaghetti or linguini. Haven't done so for years, as this is what our family prefers for tomato based pasta dishes. Holds its shaped well when cooking and draining, especially if mixed with tri-color fusilli or radiatori. Hard to find in our local grocery stores.
This is a good brand pasta from Italy made with only semolina and water. No bleached enriched flour. I have been eating pasta for over 65 years and since I visited Italy 7 years ago, i only buy pasta made from only non enriched flour now. With the wheat availability issues and Ukraine war this brand and bucatini specifically has been hard to find at my local supermarket.
Great flavor, texture, and value. They keep well too, I still have one pack left and I bought them over a year ago.
Friend recommended this pasta and we are hooked
We first stumbled on to Garofolo pasta while in Naples, so we were excited to find it available on Amazon. Try it.
The noodles arrived unbroken and the thickness met my expectations for buccatini. If you haven't had this style of pasta before, I definitely recommend it.
I love cooking with and then eating bucatini pasta. Those foot long skinny tubes are a toy and a lovely dish all in one. :)
This is a great spaghetti, with outstanding taste, flavor, consistency, and really outstanding Al Dente. It takes up the sauce nicely and retains its consistency the next day. It is the best spaghetti I have ever had from an 81-year-old Italian. On top of that it is the lowest cost of bucatini on Amazon. Go, Garofalo.
I used to buy this locally but last times I tried the pasta sections at both large grocery stores were depleted so I tried Amazon. I think it came on the same day, or next!! Good pasta and great service.
Tried four different brands of bucatini, of which Garofalo Bucatini was the least expensive, by far. The Garofalo brand cooks much faster, is more flavorful, and offered a much smoother texture and bite than any other brand of bucatini I tried. It held sauce very well and twirled/held into a nice cone for plating better than the other brands. It also reheated the next day better, without getting stiff and starchy. It’s like spaghetti on steroids, robust and perfect for family-style platters.
I can’t find this pasta in the local grocery store and I was delighted to be able to get it. And yes it is the real thing and tastes amazing the sauce gets thro those little holes and it is sooo much better
I cannot believe there is a shortage of this type of pasta my favorite grocery store has not carried it for over a year. They say it’s a logistics issue. It’s pasta lol I found here on Amazon and u get 6-1lb separate bags of this. It’s taste amazing
Very tasty but it’s strange that the pasta is hallow, well at least I’ve never had hollow past long noodles before. These noodles taste much better than the cassava flour noodles I tried previously. It’s a bit expensive but I only eat pasta as a treat once in a while so it’s worth it to me.
I don’t know why this product is so hard to find in the supermarket. But if you have not tried Bucatini, you should! For some reason it does tend to be pricier then typical spaghetti. But it works well with your more unique pasta dishes and will impress your guests. This pasta is sturdy enough for some heavier sauces while still being fun and easy enough to twirl on your fork. It cooks up nicely and has excellent flavor. The texture is satisfying and fulfilling. This week I used it to make a carbonara and was delighted with the results.
This pasta is the best, most delicious pasta on the face of the earth. Im a fat girl and a true carbohydrate connoisseur, so somewhat of an expert. Also, I’m not sure what it is, but a little goes a long way. If I buy barilla or store brand pasta, as a family of five, we’d eat nearly all of it. With this, I usually have enough leftovers for two lunches the next day.
So delicious and hearty. My new favorite pasta. Takes a bit longer to cook than instructions stste but totally worth the wait. Has a fabulous chew. The noodle swells as it cooks so smaller portion very satisfying. It tastes like I was back in Italy. I soaked up my home grown pesto beautifully. So delicious that I had two nights in a row
If you are a bucatini fan you will likely already know that this is a pasta shape that has been in short supply in the US during the pandemic. There are apparently several reasons for this. I was unwilling to buy 20 pounds of bucatini to get a sensible price, or spend over $10/lb for a single pound to appease my bucatini cravings, and so when I saw Garofalo bucatini available in a six-unit package, and at a reasonable per pound price, I placed my order. When I lived and traveled in Italy, Garofalo was a widely available and popular brand. Our local Costco carries it as well, just not the bucatini. The package arrived about two weeks ago. I opened it, and there were six packages that had been put into a large plastic bag that was then taped to seal it. What could go wrong? Two days ago I finally opened the bag. It was interesting that it was a set of 500 g (1.1 lb) rather than the more normal 1 lb packages that are now common for the US market. This suggests that this might have been product for the Italian/EU market that was redirected to the US. One bag had an open end. It’s hard to imagine this happening during shipping. I’m not returning it, but I hope that this is not something that others also experience. With an average rating of 4.9 stars for the product, I’m guessing that I was just unlucky. I only found one other review citing a similar problem.I’ve eaten lots of Garofalo pasta over the last twenty years, and I consider it to be a high-quality pasta and a good value. I’m not surprised by the positive rating. I had some with an arrabiata sauce, and that was delicious. If I had gotten 6 usable packages, I would have gladly given it five stars. Four stars seems like a fair compromise under the circumstances. I'll hope that DeCecco gets their FDA issue resolved and that other makers in Italy adjust their production and restore earlier levels of bucatini production. I'd be happy to buy this product again, but also wouldn't mind a better/broader set of reasonable choices.
I bought this Garofalo bucatini after no longer being able to find my usual brand in the grocery store. My husband has just started cooking during the pandemic, and one of the three dishes he'll prepare is bucatini amatriciana. I certainly wasn't going to give him an excuse not to make it. Even though this costs more, it is much better than my usual, with great flavor and texture. Even though it's dried, it tastes closer to homemade than other dried pastas.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann
So much flavor! Perfect al dente texture! I was so disappointed that DeCecco bucatini has not been available, but Garafalo makes a most wonderful gluten free pasta so I gave their bucatini a try. Eye poppingly delicious! I bought another 6 pack that night to make sure we would not run out for a long time. My family won’t ever choose plain spaghetti or even fettuccine if bucatini is an option. The best pasta!
The Garofalo pastaficio turns out a high quality product. It is not ultimate high-end "like nonna made" (as if your grandmother ever made bucatini...) but this is several steps above what you see in most US supermarkets. As the classic base for amatriciana, bucatini are something to have on hand for anyone who wants to remember their Roman holiday. The bite with a good semolina wheat is a great complement to tomato sauces. If you want to up your pasta game, Garofalo is a great choice at a reasonable price point.
