This crystal is alum, a mineral that in powder form, we used in Ethiopia in the 1960's to purify rain water for drinking. It works well, and lasts for years. I bought my first one over a decade ago and accidentally dropped it. It shattered, so I bought this new one. I have never had the issue of powder or residue on my skin or my clothing. Definitely moisten the crystal before using it - I get a few drops of water on my fingertip, rub that onto the crystal, then apply the moistened crystal to my armpits. Have never had the problem of the crystal dissolving because of this. Very easy to use, and is all natural!

Deodorant crystal rock, works well for me 74 year old woman who sweats a lot. Keeps me odorless only needs to apply once. Last the whole day.

I’ve tried many other deodorants, and always return to this crystal salt. Most deodorants have too heavy fragrances, where this one is so pure and simple. I know it is safe for my body. The only thing I have to watch out for is if you drop it, it will break, so be careful.

Since puberty I’ve smelled like a subway sandwich shop. 😭 it’s not from aluminum detoxing. I’m an apocrine sweat person. I don’t really get wet, I get stress/hormone sweat, which is more protein/oil rich and WAY more potent once bacteria start breaking it down. So I mostly just stink 😆😭 and have since I was literally 9. 😭This salt crystal + Lume acidified body wash combo has been game changing for me. Mostly the crystal, which is wild because it’s not even scented. It basically helps create an environment where the stink bacteria really struggle to thrive.I got the crystal wet and rubbed it on pretty intensely because it’s hard to tell if anything is even going on you lol. Then I used a little handheld fan to dry and “set” my pits. 😆 with these natural deos, they mostly succeed or fail due to application in my experience so yes I was being extra.It feels like absolutely nothing is on there compared to regular deodorant paste/barrier sticks. It’s strange at first and you don’t feel protected, but then it feels great and you don’t smell. No white marks or yellow stains. No clumpy, musky paste by lunch.I’ve also learned it’s a thing to layer crystal deodorant with a natural deodorant, especially one with fermented postbiotics to help manage the microbiome and the bacteria turning sweat into stink. I haven’t layered yet because I’m still testing the crystal solo, but I definitely plan to. I’m at the end of the day and I don’t stink despite running around at work, house cleaning and getting hot. Suspicious, honestly.I think with this salt crystal, and especially if I use it as a base layer, I’ll finally know peace. If you do try layering it, make sure it is totally dry before applying another deo on top of it. Only a thin layer too.I saw a recommendation to shower before bed, put this on and let it “set” overnight and reapply in the morning. I did this but I did not reapply in the morning bc I didn’t smell anything and wanted to really test it.I shaved my pits (gently and with the grain) and I had zero burning or irritation using this right after. My pits felt really soft after it dried.I get why this crystal deodorant has a cult following. It’s so stupid simple, it works and is SO cost effective. I can’t believe I didn’t know about this stuff!!

After detoxing my armpits, this is the only deodorant I've used. I used to have to rotate a few brands to feel its effectiveness, but I haven't had to do that since switching to this.

I decided to give this product a try since I have recently become very sensitive to deodorants since being premenopausal.I remembered, when I was young, my grandmother used a crystal rock for her deodorant. So I looked up online, some natural alternatives to deodorant. I found this one. It works absolutely amazing. You either apply it on directly after a shower when your armpits are still wet or damp or you just run the crystal underwater and then apply directly to underarms or wherever else on your body that you might create odor.The great thing is that it’s natural so you don’t have to worry about any harsh chemicals. If you have any health concerns it’s a safe choice. And did I mention that it works! It’s definitely worth trying, and it will last a really long time.

Im normal a very stinky person at the end of the day no matter what I do. I also have sensitive skin. Its been a life long struggle. The is not longer true. East Texas humidity or not. This works!

I like this product but it does scratch you but again I think I need to use another side. It controls the odor.

I bought a block of this deodorant because my only choice seemed to be to try to mask my "stinky armpits" with various scents masquerading as deodorant. Much to my surprise, after a few days of daily use, no more stink! I have not had a rash or other irritating response to daily use, just normal smelling arms. A couple of drops of water on the surface, a quick wipe, and no more concerns.As an additional bonus, I have the feeling that the block I bought should last a year or two with daily use.Very highly recommended.

I've been using it for a little over a week now and it works great. If you're working out or it's particularly hot, you may want to reapply but otherwise I love it and haven't gotten a rash or anything either.

These are great! I had my first one for more than a decade, only had to replace it because I dropped it and it shattered. They work really well when used daily. No scent, no aluminum. Doesn’t irritate your skin or discolor clothing.

Works great as a complete replacement for deodarant. I used to react to the glycol in regular deodarant. I have no issues with the crystal. The only hazard to using the crystal is to the floor or feet. When dropped it can fracture the floor and or bruise your foot.

This deodorant really does work when it comes to odor control — I was pleasantly surprised by how effective it is. When used regularly, it keeps smell away very well.That said, it’s extremely fragile. I dropped it the day I got it and it shattered, so I’d definitely recommend handling it carefully and storing it somewhere safe. I also have to use water on it before applying, and for me it works best when I use it every other day or every third day, since daily use can irritate my underarms.Overall, it’s very effective for odor but takes some getting used to and a bit of caution. If you have sensitive skin or tend to drop things, that’s something to keep in mind.

I thought I'd give crystal deodorant a try since I tend to struggle with excess sweat. But, regular antiperspirants with aluminum salts tend to clog my pores, are difficult to wash off, and irritated my skin. This is a good option as it can be used all over the body. While not as effective as the traditional aluminum salt stick antiperspirant deodorant it does work. The crystal leaves a layer of potassium alum on your skin to make an antibacterial barrier preventing bacteria from proliferating and breaking down your sweat which is where the smell comes from. The potassium aluminum salt does act as an astringent and antiperspirant to prevent sweat as well. I have used this on freshly shaved skin too and found no irritation. The crystal is large and hard and should last for years. It is better to wet the skin than the stone for the stone to last. Caution, potassium alum disrupts the crystal structure of marble and granite so it should not touch another stone surface. I have found this easy to use when fresh out of the shower by adding it in a circular motion on clean damp to wet skin. It adds protection for at least half a day with better results seen when reapplied at least once to twice a day. This is unscented. I add a scented aluminum free deodorant for scent alone.

I found that I prefer to use this as a spray verses rubbing directly on my skin. I'd advise anyone that developed irritation to try this method. I fill a quart jar with water, put the salt block in it and seal. I leave it for like 2 weeks to make salt water and then remove the salt block. I then use that jar to refill my little spray bottle. I spray my arm pits after a shower and each morning and I have no smell. It is not an antiperspirant, you will still sweat. But no odor, no stains, no transfer, no chemicals! I looked back through my previous orders and found that every block has lasted me just over 2 years!

I originally got this because I was looking for an alternative to regular deodorant as the one I was using previously started leaving me rashes (I think it was a change in their formula) anyways after a lot of research I came across this crystal rock 100% expecting it not to work. I read a ton of reviews and gathered the good and the bad and figured to try it out. First off I will say I do think this product is not for people who want to rush and want it to start working right away. I will also second that by saying what most comments say "Everybody's body type works differently". That all being said though I think there are a few things I learned based off several scattered reviews to make this successful (at least this is how it's been working for me).1. Dont hold the rock under the water that long. Grip it turn on and off the water fast and ONLY water the tip on where you will be applying it under your arm.2. Apply but pick a motion. I like to circle it all around my arms and all around the outer edges of my under arm area. NOT just the center. If you do just the center what I noticed is the smell starts to escape to those outer areas but not the center. Very strange. You will need to do this for a while. I go back and forth from applying under my arm to re-watering it again for at least 4 min for EACH arm. (this is where the patience part comes in). Yes your underarm will be wet, (dont go too fast cause then it will for sure slip out of your hand) but trust me patience makes it happen. Listen to a song or small YT video while applying to pass the time.3. When I am done I rinse it under the water again but then dry vigorously with a DRY towel. I did notice when you use a damp towel to dry it the rock will smell but if you use a dry towel the smell does go away. And then I put back in the dish. From reading other reviews it sounds like if you just leave the stone to dry on its own this causes the sharp crystal cracks that will make your underarm start to break out.Also to note I apply this twice a day. Always after a shower but if I don't shower I water under my arm a bit to get damp and then do the above steps. Guys..I know I have terrible BO after being in sports for so many years and forgetting to wear deodorant but after doing the above I haven't smelt bad once. (ok one time when I forgot to apply) but its been holding strong! I do really think you need to be patient with the results and make sure you take the time to apply it correctly. This is not just a water and throw under for a few seconds and be done. If you want that result then you need to get regular deodorant.Last note. There will be times where due to the water little carvings will start to edge out on the stone (yes they do hurt do not use those areas under your arms), what I do is I always put face down the smoothest part of the stone after I super dry it and ONLY use that part of the stone. Other areas around it will start to crack or mess us. Do not go crazy and start randomly switching sides when applying. Pick a side and remember it by putting it face down so when you grab the stone you just need to turn it to the side and apply the water. Hope this long review helped someone. Long story short works for me great thus far!

I got this deodorant rock to replace a salt deodorant with a plastic applicator. The applicator got mildew inside and I just couldn't use it anymore. I've used this one for about a week and like it so far. The salt can feel a bit slippery without the applicator to hold it, so I have to be careful not to let it slip out of my hands. I use it right away when I'm out of the shower, wetting it before each application, and rinsing it off when I'm done. I find that it prevents odor well, even in the summer. It doesn't stop perspiration, but I don't find it to be a problem. I have very sensitive skin, so I only use it for two or three days in a row, alternating with another natural deodorant. The salt dries my skin and eventually causes some irritation if I used it every day. I still much prefer this rock deodorant to an anti-perspirant/deodorant made with a long list of chemicals. It's unscented, dries right away, and doesn't stain or leave marks on my clothes. 4 stars.

I have always known about this product but had no idea that it would actually work for me because I am a very sweaty woman! I prefer to use deodorant-only with as few dangerous chemicals as possible, but the one I've been using for the last few years still leaves me with bad B.O. after a short time. A friend suggest this Rock to me and I thought it wouldn't work, but after realizing all of my summer shirts are now infused with my bad BO even before I wear them, I decided I needed to do something different before people start avoiding me! I honestly have NO armpit odor after using this thing! It is amazing! I don't even sweat as much as I used to, and this is July in a southern state. So far, it's lasted all day and night without reapplying, though I did reapply one time after being outside for a few hours in the heat. I am so happy that I no longer stink!UPDATE!I was so so sad to develop an absolutely terrible rash after about 3 weeks of use. I had to stop using it, but once my pits healed, I gave it another try. Imagine my surprise when, right after use, I felt a TON of salt left in my pits! Turns out, after a few weeks of use, some of the salt starts to loosen up on the rock, and when you use it, larger than normal deposits of salt wind up in the armpits. As you sweat the salt melts so it's not noticeable that there is a tablespoon or so of salt in there, which is obviously too much and is irritating. Simply be careful to dust off the chunks of salt from the armpits right after use. No more irritation and terrible rash for me!Second update:If you are using this and sometimes you smell and sometimes you don't, it's probably your old pre-rock shirts! I used to use a heavily scented deodorant because I sweated so much and would end up with stinky pits. Since I used the overly scented deodorant every day, I didn't notice how bad my actual shirts smelled once I started getting a little sweaty. Of course I wash my laundry and am not a gross person at all, however once I started using the rock, as soon as my pits would get a little damp, those older shirts would begin to stink of a mixture of B.O. and my old deodorant. Even my shirts I've washed tons of times, done vinegar soaks to remove the old pit odors, and shirts I've bleached!! I happened to buy a few new shirts post-rock, and none of them have that odor at all. So now I'm buying all new shirts that won't get stinky with old funk with the slightest amount of sweat.
