It does work but it dries out and after about a week it loses some of its potency. I did capture the moment a raccoon decided it wasn’t for him. But fair warning…it is hot and will get airborne. I recommend a mask to help protect yourself.
I’ve been buying this product for many years, though this is the first time via Amazon as my local bird store was out of stock. Love this product, works like a dream keeping the squirrels off my many bird feeders. HOWEVER…. Bottles leaked inside packaging! I had a MESS on my hands, not to mention TOXIC, MAJOR HOT fumes. Coughing, sneezing, running nose and eyes. PLEASE package better! Put on a surgical mask and transferred to another container. Not sure how much I lost. Great product, but not inexpensive! Buyer beware if you see a leak!!
Wear gloves when using this product. Definitely keeps the squirrels away but the birds love it.
Yes it works! My birds love it and the squirrels hate it. It took the birds a few days to get used to the change but now they empty the feeder as soon as I give them their supper. But wear rubber gloves when you mix it!! And dont over do it. follow the recipe exactly.
Works great for keeping the squirrels out of my birdfeeder and the birds don't care that it's there at all. I put A LOT on my seeds and nuts, have tons of birds and the squirrels have stopped breaking things.
Only work for a while then those little rascals east right through the hot stuff
This stuff works! Squirrels may or may not 'sample' your bird feed but they sure won't take a second bite! It has saved me from replacing several very expensive feeders, not to mention the loss of bird seed as well.Word of caution- use gloves when handling the product and the seeds too. Whatever you do, no matter how bad your eyes may itch, do not put your hands anywhere near them after using this sauce until you have washed your hands thoroughly with hot soapy water. Otherwise, you might find out what it is like to get pepper sprayed in the face!
I was recommended to this by a friend, and I'm so happy I listened. The birds love this, and the squirrels DO NOT! Nothing again squirrels, but we'd prefer to keep the seeds for the birds. It definitely works. Follow the directions exactly - this stuff is HOT. The fumes can irritate your eyes and skin. Wear gloves and use in well ventilated area. Definitely recommend.
I have very aggressive red squirrels in my neighborhood, and they drove me crazy the last few winters. I started early with my feeders (late summer) this year to begin to attract birds. At first, I used the prescribed amount mixed with the seed and didn't see any squirrels or birds for about 2 weeks. I added more seed and mixed it in, and almost immediately had birds hitting the two feeders (all sunflower seeds). I will use about two scoops of sauce instead of the three prescribed for every 8 lbs. After 2 months, the squirrels will not go near my feeders.
Great value! I recommend using gloves when using this product so you don't get it in your eyes. The birds don't mind it and the squirrels will stay away from your feeders!!I also mixed some up in a spray bottle with some water and sprayed it on my plants on my porch and around the tree. Works well! Highly recommend it!!
This works well as long as you put enough red in the food before putting it into the feeder. Also, if it rains, you will need to include more red because it will be diluted, and the birds will still be able to eat it as well as the squirrels. When this formula is put heavely On the on the foodBut if it rains and the formula gets wet on the food, then is loses a lot of its strength and the squirrels can’t just have a good meal. I’ve tried. I’ve tried everything on the squirrels and things only work for a short period.
Works good and it is POWERFUL. Be sure to wear gloves, eye covering and a mask while you mix it. It will burn your eyes & make you cough. If you don’t wear gloves WASH your hands THOROUGHLY. If not, it will “irritate” any soft part of your body that you may touch with your hands. The squirrels have quit eating my birdseed. They come & sniff and leave quickly. Will continue to purchase & use!
first do wear disposable glove! I’ve occasionally not slipped a glove on and quickly sprayed my feeder only to touch my face or have my spray bottle drip on my finger. you will feel the burn. I dunked my finger in milk every 10 minutes and the burn subsided, eventually. Have that teeny breeze turn my way and have a quick smell, mist get me, my eyes will water and nose will drip.I don’t mix with bird seed, that just isn’t feasible for me to do. I only spray on my mesh bird feeder on it’s outside, of course some spray gets in on the seeds. and occasionally spray a tiny bit on top railing 4’ below, doing it this way works very well for me. the squirrels do not jump up onto my feeder. In hindsight. We wonder how much this hurts the squirrel’s paws, mouth ? We hope only a little. this stuff works. 🐿️
I will start with letting you know I haven’t opened the bottle yet. I got the package and was reading the directions on the bottle, everything is pretty straight forward. I went to make a cup of coffee and use the restroom. About 2 minutes later I felt the hand of satan reach up from below and grab me by the genitals. This stuff works so good you only have to touch the outside of a sealed bottle to summon the burning flames of hell. It’s been an hour, 2 showers and a gallon of aloe gel and I think the tears are done and my friend is beginning to get his color back. 4 stars because wow it’s hot, but I thought the apocalypse had begun. I will review the aloe gel on that page.
We live in the country have lots of birds many different varieties! We also “had” lots of chipmunks, squirrels and dwarf squirrels. I had got to the point of only putting a tiny bit of feed in my feeders because the chipmunks especially would completely clean them out in a matter of hours! It was absolutely insane the amount of food these little creatures can stuff in there mouth! Now I must say they were fun to watch chase each other around and occasionally they would box with each other but they were wrecking havoc on my yard and eating all our food and my poor birds were left with barely anything! We added 1 bottle of coles to 30 pounds of bird seed filled the feeders and waited and watched…. The chipmunks would climb the pole sniff around and climb back down it was instant! I was shocked but the product does exactly what it’s supposed to do!Be careful handling the package and bottle and then touching your skin or eyes! Or you might be on fire!I am sad about my chipmunks friends and I still give them water daily and a few days a week put some chipmunk friendly food out for them and they much appreciate it! And my birds much appreciate them staying off the feeders!Buy this product it really works! And will save you money in the long run!
I'd read some bad reviews about squirrels not being bothered by this product. Well, I have one thing to say to that, BULL!I love spicy stuff so I put a tiny drop on my tongue and my face was on fire for about 20-30 minutes!i then mixed up a batch using the recommended ration and some blazing hot bird seed, put out and waited. The squirrels, being driven by their hunger began to eat. My jaw dropped as they continued to munch away. After a few minutes you could tell they were starting to feel the heat. They'd rub their faces on a tree or a pole or something attempting to put out the fire.Long story short, the only squirrels that attempt to eat the birdseed now I assume must not be from the area however, the word spread quickly. Now the birds have the seed all to themselves, squirrels won't go near it.They like to eat but can't take the heat! This is a good product, now I need to find some suet cakes soaked in this stuff!
I use this as a deterrent for chewing since my puppy is in the very lengthy "chew everything" stage. It works very well for that use. It has an oily base, so will adhere for a long time to hard surfaces. Weeks, if kept dry. This product is bright red and will stain furniture or fabric, or your woodwork or drywall if you have a very busy puppy. A very tiny amount is sufficient -- I sometimes apply it by Q-tip along areas that I'm treating. Another good way to apply is to wear a latex glove; dip a gloved finger in a small amount of Flaming Squirrel and dab it on the areas that you're working on.Amazon asked me for a review of "warmth, thickness, value for money". It's not a blanket, but I rated 5 stars for warmth because it is HOT on the skin and lasts a long time on a surface. Does wash off somewhat, losing some effectiveness, in rain. I highly recommend it as a chew-stop for dogs. If applying it by spray bottle, DO NOT spray when pets are in the area! The mist will burn eyes and throat (yours and theirs).
Many years ago I set up a bird feeder for a school project. My father and I have been feeding birds ever since. It seems like in the past few years the squirrel population has exploded. I found myself filling the feeders every day or 2. I'd had enough.I decided that once I ran out of seed I'd give the feeders away and forget it. I rarely saw birds and it was costing me a fortune. Then I came across this stuff. I figured for $10 a bottle (at the time) I had nothing to lose.So I mixed up the last of my seed with some Cole's and put it out. I watched as my 35 year hobby was at stake.Within minutes the squirrels attacked the feeders, diving in to the fresh food. But this time was different. After a few bites they stopped eating and frozen for a few seconds. Then they began squawking and running back and forth along the fence!I bought more seed and treated it again. No more squirrels. After a few weeks I stopped treating the seed because I rarely saw squirrels at all. And now, if I do see some, I just begin treatment again.Last year my father was telling me how he was going to stop feeding the birds because he was sick of the squirrels. He would use actual pepper seeds, which work great but are tremendously expensive. I gave him the bottle of Cole's and told him to give it a shot.A few days later he called laughing. All the squirrels left except one who seemed to like the spicy treat! Now he puts a little bowl of spicy seed out for the one squirrel to keep him off the feeders. If you're on the fence about this stuff, give it a try. Dump your seed in a bucket, pour in some Cole's, mix it up and put it in your feeders. How much oil to mix with how much seed it right on the label. It's very easy to do (wear latex gloves). I love this stuff. I think you will too.
