But not great. Better to use to mix with other cereals. Otherwise it’s like a bowl of wood chips in both flavor and texture.

we purchase this cereal every couple of months. noticed that the price was about 20% less than others listed for the same thing. so, i bought it. showed up with 'best before November 28, 2024 date.' I didn't notice the fine print before ordering. Probably doesn't matter. Just something to look for next time.

Best muesli. However, I've been eating this for 30 years and I got used to the no added sugar version in a blue box. Note of caution: the no sugar added is for those who don't mind something without sweetness or will be adding a large quantity of their own sweetener (i.e., fruit, sweetened granola type mix, etc.). No one I introduced this to likes the no sugar added version because it is much less sweet than most breakfast items.

This is OK But it isn't really the Original Alpen. The really good stuff from England has flakes that are crispy not hard, a slight malt flavor, more nuts and raisins, and powdered skim milk that adds a touch of sweetness. This is pretty blah in comparison. I'll donate some of the six boxes I bought and hope that the American companies that sell food from England can restock the real stuff soon.

Alpen is our everyday breakfast during the week. I mix it with fresh berries and fruit of the season, little milk on top of it and voila - healthy, tasty, and fast to prepare! We never grow tired of it. You don't feel hungry after 1 hour like you do when you eat one of those airy and sugar loaded cereals even if claimed to be whole wheat. Best and healthiest cereal choice on the market in my opinion. Pricey, but well worth it.Note after I've read some of the other reviews: I never tried UK Alpen and no, it might not taste like European muesli. It would taste too bland for me if I didn't add fresh fruit - strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas, peaches, you name it. But it's perfect with fruit and I still think it's the best choice on the US market. It's sold nowhere in the store where I live, so I've had to try a variety of other so called healthy and whole wheat cereals when I happened to run out of it.

I was excited to receive this after I found out that Amazon sells Alpen. When I tried it, it was good but something different from what I remembered in the UK. I checked the box and this version is made in Canada. I suppose it's the same formula, but something different, which I can't tell what. So I'm not complaining as this is as good, but wanted the others to know. Since I have no choice, I'll keep ordering it, but if Amazon can get the UK version, that'd be great!

I fell in love with Alpen when I lived in the UK. The only version readily available in the US is the Canadian version. I couldn't live without it, but it's not the same as in the UK. If the UK version were available at the same price, I would be thrilled!

Alpen in the red box was my absolute favorite cereal. However, the box recently changed to brown, and along with that so did the taste. I did some searching on the web, and confirmed what I found by comparing the ingredients: they are no longer organic ingredients, and are listed in a different order. The change took place in the UK a couple years ago and it has now happened here in the USA. If the new taste doesn't grow on me, I will have to find another cereal. I wonder if anyone else who purchases on Amazon has noticed the change.
