This is so much better than white rice!
Great product.Will buy again.
This is a natural brown race that is very tasty and healthy.
I've been eating Texmati ever since it first came out, and consider it to be some of the best, most flavorful rice on the market. If you get it right, it manages to be moist, tender, and fluffy, all at the same time.Given that both I and my father need all the fiber we can get, I switched to Texmati brown for most uses some years ago.Because of the longer cooking time, it is not as intensely aromatic as Texmati white, and it's somewhat easier to scorch, but that's a small price to pay for the extra fiber.
We had to clamp the jar in a big vice and use a big "jar wrench". Will have to return if this happens again. We will have to stop buying this product
Perfect content
Brown Basmati rice is our favorite, and we are big rice eaters at my house. I like that RiceSelect Texmati is grown in the U.S. and sold in this economical manner. (I keep it on Subscribe & Save.) I serve this rice under many different vegetable dishes, mix it right into some others, serve it on top of salads (hot or cold), make cold salads with it (for example, to leftover cold rice add chopped walnuts and red onion, dried cherries or cranberries, some chopped up greens such as arugula, and a nice dressing--it's great!), turn it into scrumptious brown-rice pudding, and in many other ways. Cook it in a pressure cooker and it couldn't be easier to prepare.
My family has been eating this rice for years, and really don't purchase any other rice products. It is that good. When cooking there is this nutty, even popcorn-like fragrance and it tastes just as good as it smells. However, the last two times we ordered this package of six containers, my husband has had a great deal of trouble getting the lids off. Just now he had to take the plastic jar to his workshop and clamp it in a vise to get the lid to release.
We love texmati brown rice, especially the flavor and consistent ease of preparation. Our grocery store quit carrying the brand, so pleased to find a “4-pack” on Amazon.
I purchased this rice from Amazon when my local market ran out of brown rice during the pandemic. I was surprised by how good it tastes and how easy to cook. I will continue to buy this rice.
I had ordered something different from another vendor as basmati brown rice seems to be unavailable where I shop. Right before it was due to arrive it got cancelled, put back on Amazon at almost twice the price. I found this and decided to try it. I have made two different dishes and both are good. The rice absorbs flavors well and cooks up nicely.Hint: when rice is done, put a clean cloth between pot and lid. I read that somewhere else, works like a charm . Keeps rice fluffy top to bottom.
The rice cooks up fluffy and tasty. Beats the hell out of Royal rice in my opinion. Other rice I cook clumps and is way difficult to figure out how long to cook-water-to-rice ratio. Follow directions on the label and adjust to your preferences.I cook in enameled cast iron so my cooking times vary because of the efficiency of cast iron: directions on the Texmati container suggest cooking the rice for 45 minutes. I cook it about 30 minutes, check the rice and if there is some SOME water left in the pot I remove it from the stove and let it sit and absorb the rest of the water.Hey, works for me!
Will continue to keep buying this product as I can’t find it anywhere and have almost become addicted to it. This is the only rice that I want to eat having tried others. It doesn’t stick together but cooks great in my rice cooker. Tastes like it should and every one of them containers I bought were sealed and fresh. It’s the best value for money where I live as well.
My original review was very negative. I had ordered four packs of rice, but received four packs of Quinoa. But I effected a return and quickly received the right item today. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the 8 lbs. of *yuck* quinoa, as they didn't want them back (can't say I blame them.... :) )
Good rice, I figured out how to make it in my electric pressure cooker, we eat a lot of this rice so I cook 2 cups to 3 cups of water for 18 minutes then turn off the pressure cooker and let it cool down with lid on, store what we're not using immediately in a vacuum seal container for more meals.
We began using this product years ago at the suggestion of a friend and instantly were impressed with its quality. Although it is more expensive than other brown rice products we consider it worth the extra cost. When our local grocers quit selling the product about a year ago we began purchasing it online. The price is great and it is delivered right to our front door.
This is a very high quality product. Must brands of rice require many washings to remove dirt and impurities. However, Texmati is very clean, though you should still wash it thoroughly. This is a very tasty, brown rice. It has a delicious nutty quality that compliments everything I serve it with. Even the packaging is of excellent quality. I only wish I could send the container back for re-fill, thus recycling it as there is no option for recycling in my area.
This is a tasty and healthy option compared to plain white rice. Although a little pricey, I cannot find this brand in my local stores so I'll buy this again when it's marked down. I use a rice cooker and needed to add 1/2 cup more water than the directions recommended. My first attempt came out like a "trampoline for teeth" my wisecracking kid commented. He raved after my next attempt comparing it to the brown rice he's had at Pei Wei.Preferring rice to potatoes I do experiment with different types of rice and different recipes. This rice is very good alone, with vegetables and in various dishes. Try it you'll like it!
For those who favor brown rice over white, this is not a bad choice at all. Maybe the price could be a deterrent but the flavor and quality of the rice make for a tasty serving of brown rice. I like it a lot and will always stay at the back of my mind for when and if the need should arise. Better than the varieties found in supermarkets, probably more carefully processed, it satisfies with quality and taste. I usually prepare two cups at a time and before you even know it there is no more in the see through jar. I have elevated my game regarding the preparation of brown rice, for the right or should I say precise amount of water makes a significant impact on the final result. Goes well with just about anything any rice goes well with. It has been more than a decade since I have been using brown rice instead of white and there is no comparison. Of course I do eat out in some chinese restaurants and it is rare they will offer brown rice so those times I go with the flow. There is one great national chain that serves brown or white with their food and I find that awesome (Styx?). 4.5 for RiceSelect Long Grain Texmati Brown Rice, 36-Ounce Jars (Pack of 4)!
Texmati is the best of the brown rice products I have found and I was thrilled to find it on Amazon. So far, it has been readily available when I needed it and delivery was fast. When comparing it to my supermarket, I found out that is was also cheaper to buy the pack of four as compared to buying 4 from the supermarket. To get the brand you want for less money is a great discovery and the great customer service is a plus anywhere.
