Interesting taste

Not a fan at all.....too wet, no spice. It tasted like vinegar was the main source of seasoning here.

Great snack

Great taste. Though for some reason my bro said he liked Hannah's better..... well to each his own.

Hannah taste better . Like a fresher taste maybe bc of the juice

I like them compared them to Hannah’s. Hannah taste better to me and has juice in it. Herbs definitely has a lil more kick BUT no juice. Not extra spicy . Hannah reminds me of those corner store visits. Gave Hannah 5 stars . Idk maybe bc it’s my favorite kind bc herbs not bad either but Hannah’s just hit right! I eat 2-3 at a time but I’ll do 1 herbs 😂 idk Hannah just taste fresher maybe bc of the juice.

Decent BUT can be improved.

These are decent BUT Hannah's are better in my opinion.

They're alright...

They're alright, I bought just cause I enjoy Fire Crackers, Hot Mamas and Tijuana Mamas pickled sausages. They're very small and thin, plus they're not hot or remotely spicy. Gave it a 3/5 cause of the price and quantity.

Just buy it

Came on time and very delicious. I’m pregnant so I don’t think I need to eat many but it is so hard not to!

Pretty good pickled sausages

Tastes just like Tijuana mamas definitely scratches that itch for me. Compared to the long johns, I like it better but the long johns definitely tastes more real if that’s what ur going for especially the sausage casing. Both a really good, I’d only order herbs again tho

The best NON PORK pickled sausage

First of all the shipping was literally next day , the sausage tastes pretty fresh , it’s very hard to find a good quality pickled sausage that isn’t pork but these are great . They are spicy but not overbearing at all, the vinegar has a nice kick I really am enjoying these , there is a tad slight aftertaste but it’s not bad at all goes away pretty fast I love these 10/10 would buy again!

Good pickled sausages

These Herb's Red Hot pickled sausages are pretty good. They're not quite as spicy as I prefer (hence the four stars), but they taste good with plenty of pickled/vinegary flavor. I like how they are snack sized too so you don't feel too guilty eating more than one of them. I think I still prefer Penrose Firecrackers over these but these are a good buy as well.

Oh baby!

Haven't had one of these since my bar drinking days when I'd almost always cap off the night with a pickled sausage at last call. They're every bit as good as I remember them being. Decided to get the individually wrapped ones instead of the jar so I can bring them to work. Same vinegar kick, same mushy texture. The only thing I wish is that they were a little bigger. These are about the length of a candy bar and a little bit bigger around than a sharpie marker. Might have to buy the big jar of these and hide them at work so my coworkers don't eat them all!

Small but tasty.

Really good value, and tasty to boot. They are small, but that's not a bad thing, you can always eat 2-3. Unless you really want the mouthfeel of biting into a thicker sausage. There is a decent snap to them as well. Product arrived fresh with a shelf date of June 26 2021, so I have plenty of time to savor them. The dispenser style container is a lot of fun, like a convenience store on your kitchen counter. Flavor is sharp vinegar with a bit of heat and spice, but not too much. Beef and chicken recipe is more firm than chicken and pork recipe of other brands. Price is slightly lower than MSRP of product at time of review. Really good with a beer or soda. My only complaint is they are a little bit difficult to open, but a knife or scissors makes quick work of that issue. I wish they had the easy split and pull like the penrose brand. I'd definitely get these again.

Pretty good. Not the best

They are small like just about the length and size if your index finger. They are sour enough and have a nice toughness to them so they are not mushy like other brands but they do have that slightly chemical taste to the vinegar which I dont like. The jack link ones have very chemical taste this is not as bad but its there where as original hot mammas and the new big mamas dont have that. For the price and amount you get these are a pretty good deal. I also tried the big mama individual wrapped and they are bigger size and cost more but ultimately tastes better even though nore mushy. These are worth a try.

Tasty, but not hot

These have about the same diameter as a slim jim . They are tasty, not too salty, and not too tart, but they are also not really hot at all. I wish there was more juice in the wrapping. Are these worth it? It's debatable. These are only 0.70 oz each for $0.50. The Penrose ones are 2.4 oz for $1.20, or $0.50 an oz. So Penrose has ~43% more meat for $0.50. The debatable part is that these are made from beef and chicken, while Penrose are chicken and pork. Whatever that is worth to you. Personally I prefer the flavor of these because it doesn't taste as salty, and while they're soft, they're not quite as soft as Penrose which some people compare to mush. Now I've ordered the 1 gallon jars of Herb's hot pickled sausage before, these taste nothing like those. I prefer the size of those over these, which are equivalent to beef sticks, but they are very salty. Hope that helps

Best of the rest

So I recently bought 3 different brands of hot sausages because I needed them for a quick keto snack but didn't know which one I would enjoy the most. Soooooo, you all get to benefit from my experiment! The brands I purchased were Herb's, Penrose and Hannah's. Here's what I think:Overall, all of the boxes came kind of beat up. That's okay for my home use. If you wanted to use these for some kind of display, like in an office, you would need something else to put them in because the boxes would be tacky with how beat up they are!#1 - Herb's, hands down, was the best sausage! Of the 3, it had the best flavor (a strong spicy flavor without overwhelming heat) and texture. Made with beef and chicken in cause you're wondering. The box came in the best shape and it's expiration date was the furthest out (April, 2019). I don't think I'll need sausages again EVER, but if I do, it will be Herb's without hesitation.#2 - Really tough choice but I'm going to go with Penrose. Made with chicken and pork. Flavor was right on with Herb's but the texture was kinda off. Hard to explain but just kinda felt more processed/fake (I know, I know, they're all processed...). The texture completely through me off though. The box was the most damaged and the expiration date the closest (November 2018)#3 - Again, probably more of a tie with Penrose. The texture was fine but it's lacking in flavor. Perhaps it's missing a few things from the seasoning package. Made with chick and beef. Box was okay, but still damaged. Expiration March 2019.Ultimately, there's really only one option for me. If Herb's is OOS, I just won't be buying sausages. I'm spoiled. Either the best or nothing!
