This is Red Oak, it worked in well and dried very quickly
This product is awesome. After using wood filler and caulking for so many years, I wanted something better that won’t crack. This stuff goes on so smooth. Easy to sand, and paint. I would 100% recommend this product. The color was a little dark for me, so I slowly blended in some white oak until I had a match and it dried perfect and seamless.
Excellent product, way better than described. Will definitely purchase for seller again 😁
Best match for red oak! Better than others that we’ve tried.
Works great. Good match to my red oak.Container was damaged when it arrived so will only be able to use a little, but enough for the current project
This is my favorite filler to use when building cabinets (I’m a cabinet maker). It goes on smooth and is the perfect consistency. It sands easily when dry and stays where it is supposed to. It’s good for filling nail holes and cracks but not for anything structural.
Good water based poly wood filler. It came a tad dry for my taste so I put a ml of water in it, put the lid back on, and let it sit a few hours and it turned into a nice thick paste which was better for my project. Dries fast, sands easy and didn't shrink or crack.
Top product and good value. Some brands give you little tiny jars for a higher price. This is the best wood filler I’ve used.
This is the best filler I’ve ever used. I’ve used countless tubs of this stuff on all kinds of wood products. Used multiple different shades for different woods with no issues. The latex is the best drying and easiest sanding I’ve found. Would highly recommend this famowood product.
Works pretty much like other fillers but my experience with staining it did not go well. It gets unnaturally dark so be careful. I reacts to staining pretty much like staining wood on the end grain.
The product is water based so it does not harden in the container quickly as oil based fillers do. I bought colored filler and hoped it would blend with the stain/sealer I was to apply. It did not. It dried a very light color. It did not absorb the coloring of the stain/sealer well enough to cover the areas that had the FamoWood filler, even though the advertising said it would. I am using it on an outside project and am concerned that it will not endure normal weather - rain, sun. I have not had it applied long enough to honestly evaluate its outdoor durability.
I’ve used other products in the past and so far this is my favorite. I used it a month ago to fill some rotting wood (after cleaning out and drying) on a couple deck boards that I didn’ Want to entirely replace. It has dried rock solid and adhered very well to the old wood. I can’t say yet how durable it is — will know in a year. As far as “stainability,” I haven’t found any of these products to actually absorb stain anything like wood, so of course it is obvious where the product was used after I stained the deck. But, I’m convinced that I saved a year or two on replacing those boards.
Just make sure not to add too much water as I did to prevent drying before storing for next use. It grew mold and I had to get a new one. Otherwise better than the oil based that was the only available before.
This stuff is easy to apply, fast drying, can be "rough finished" with a taping knife just prior to sanding (I recommend doing this, the excess scrapes right off, which both speeds the sanding and keeps the sandpaper from clogging up quickly), and is a very good color match for red oak strip flooring. I've used it to fill nail holes, dents, gaps between strips, and water damaged raised grain. The very slight odor is not an issue, and any filler that dries on your fingers can be easily scrubbed off. I've ordered this three times, it is a go-to product.
Great color match to my red oak plywood and easier to work with than some other fillers, though still a slight tendency to show rip marks when smoothing over with a tool. Also, the cover is horribly difficult to open and close--it's one of those that has cuts in the rim every centimeter or so all the way around, a poor design. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my end result.
This filler is definitely easier to apply and sand than the paste-type commonly available at big-box stores. Because it is less solid than the paste fillers, it is sometimes better to mask off the area to be filled prior to application. As other reviews have said, filler doesn't always take stain the same way as surrounding wood. You can mix in a bit of stain with this to get a better match, either before or after finishing.
Great wood filler. Is a little runny at first, but this allows you time to work with it until it starts to dry and harden. Easy to sand and takes stain or clear coat finish very well also. Had to fill in a missing piece of Oak wood on a rocking horse. Bought this Red Oak and the Golden Oak to layer them and give the repair a more natural grain-looking appearance. Was very please with the look of the repair.
Famowood wood filler was much easier to work with than Elmer's. It went on smoothly and was easy to sand, Drying time was fast. Having various color options was a bonus. It's too bad that this product is not available in more home centers.
I have been using Minwax wood filler and always hated it. I tried this product and really like it a lot. I like the creamy, waxy texture while applying it. It is very easy to fill holes and cracks. It dries quickly and sands very easily. It accepts stain and looks great. It's just a little darker than natural red oak.
